Planting a vegetable garden in the foothills - Learn when, and how to plant vegetables in our unique climate and soil. Trey will discuss how to prepare the ground for maximum yield. Tips on how to grow using organic methods, including fertilizing and pest control. You will receive our handout concerning what and when to plant at 2000 foot and higher elevations. This isn't gardening in the valley, but mountain grown gardening. It's the best!

Carolyn Singer, author of "Deer in my Garden" - Carolyn Singer, author of "Deer in Garden" will speak on deer resistant gardening in the foothills. Carolyn has gardened, taught, designed, and written garden articles in deer country for more than 28 years. Tours of her gardens have inspired many gardeners, and her classes are legendary. Her writing has been published in Fine Gardening, Garden Gate, and Better Homes and Gardens. She is a writer for The Union, her local newspaper in Grass Valley, CA. This event will be held at the Golden Gecko Garden Center in Garden Valley and refreshments will be provided.
